More and more smartphones now come equipped with facial recognition security, offering up a new way for us all to secure and unlock our smartphones. While not as widespread and not necessarily more secure than a fingerprint scanner, new biometric ideas like facial recognition seem to be the way forward. Here I will show you how to activate iPhone X FaceID On Android Devices

The iPhone X has a new unlocking mechanism called Face ID, which replaces the old Touch ID system since the phone no longer has a fingerprint sensor. The way it works is simple — you just look at the phone, it recognizes your face, then the system unlocks — so Apple deserves the praise they’re getting for it. But did you know you can get almost this exact same feature on any Android device right now?

Starting with Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google introduced a new Smart Lock system that gives you various options to help speed up the process of unlocking your phone when the device detects that it’s in a secure environment. Samsung obviously introduced its own implementation of facial recognition with the Note 7, Galaxy S8, and Note 8, but the feature has been available since Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The feature is called “Trusted Face” and the idea is exactly the same as the iPhone X Face ID. You simply wake your device, look at your phone, and it’ll recognize your face and authorize your smartphone to be unlocked without needing to enter a PIN, you can have Apple Face ID on Android just that easily.

To address the elephant in the room, yes the iPhone X has additional sensors that will improve the accuracy and reliability of the facial recognition but the fundamentals are exactly the same so you feel like using Apple Face ID on Android.

“Software is the only realistic way to add biometric security to every smart device in the world. While hardware makers will always tout the latest bells and whistles to sell new phones, app publishers have different requirements and universal access is at the top of that list. Apple wants you to think you need a $1000 phone to be secure but, with ZoOm, every smart device can have 3D face authentication. ZoOm enables the deployment of strong biometric security across the entire mobile user base, regardless of the devices customers own,” Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO of FaceTec, the company which created the app said in an email to the International Business Times.

We can say that Apple’s Face ID feature is not latest as Android has it since last 5 Years. Although, they have added some security seasoning in their Face ID feature. So, using this feature Android users can also experience the iPhone X feature as it also has exactly same feature I.e users can use Apple FaceID on Android.
