Can you Unsend an iMessage?

Is there a way to unsend a text from your iPhone? Unfortunately, after the message has arrived at the receiver’s account, usually the answer is no. However, there is a tiny time frame before it’s delivered when you can successfully recall the iMessage. Don’t worry the process is not so complicated and doesn’t involve resetting your iPhone.

How to Unsend a Text on iPhone?

To recall a text message from your iPhone, you must be quick on your feet.

If the iMessage is on its way, it really won’t take long before it arrives at the unwanted address. The entire process lasts only a couple of seconds, depending on your connection or Wi-Fi speed. If you’re trying to unsend an image or video (MMS text message), you have slightly more time than an iMessage or text.

To stop the sending process, immediately go to the Control Centre by swiping down from the top right corner of the iPhone screen and quickly enable Airplane mode. If you get a “Not delivered” message with a red exclamation mark, it means it was successful!

The next step is to tap and hold the message you wish to unsend and select More. From there, hit the trash bin icon to delete it.Make sure the unwanted message is deleted because once you turn your signal back on, your mobile phone will automatically try to send it.

More Hacks to Undo a Sent iMessage on iPhone

If you want a more permanent way of secure messaging rather than a quick fix, here are a few things you might want to try:

1.TigerConnect – If you want your Apple to unsend texts, check out this useful iOS app that allows you the commodity of deleting iMessages and texts on both sides, but only if both the sender and the receiver have it installed on their devices.

  1. Mute specific contacts – If it’s too late to recall an iMessage, you can at least do some damage control with this convenient iPhone feature that will save you the trouble of explaining yourself to the receiver, especially if the receiver is an ex, a friend you’ve just had a fight with, or a business contact during vacation. To activate the feature, go to the conversation window > click on Details > enable Do Not Disturb.

  2. Audio messages – For more secure messaging, you can try to prevent accidentally sending messages altogether by communicating via audio messages.

  3. Location sharing – Another way to avoid the inconvenience of accidental texts is to use location sharing as a modern way of communicating “let’s meet for a coffee” to a friend. To enable this feature, tap on Details in a conversation, and choose one of the two options: Share My Current Location if you want to share it just at that time, or Share My Location to continue tracking and sharing your location as you change it.:
