How to Test Internet Connection Speed on your Mac?

Now every Mac user has a web browser Safari by default. If you like to use Firefox, Chrome, Edge, or any other browser, then even then, it is okay with this method.

  • Launch the browser that you often use on your Mac.
  • In the address bar, enter https://fast.com and hit Enter.
  • You will see a rotating circle around a pause button here. Wait till the process completes, and the page completely loads on your browser.
  • After the load is complete, you will see the download speed of your internet connection.
  • Click on Show more info below, and that will display the latency and upload speed of your internet connection too.

Internet speeds depend on a variety of factors, ISP, Router in use, distance from the router, delay, and so on. However, if you live in a more urban setup, then you should see a high number on the webpage due to the better infrastructure. Similarly, if you are currently in a rural structure, then the speed will be comparatively slower.

If you see a high number on the speed of your connection on the website, but your application takes a lot longer to load, then the application in question has some bugs for sure. Maybe a future update will fix that issue for that application.

So don’t blame your internet connection directly when you see an application load slower on your Mac. Instead, check the connection speed and see where does the problem lie.
