A new version of Android means a host of new features. A particular one requested a lot in the past by Android users is the scrolling screenshot feature. Some Android smartphone manufacturers have included this feature in older versions of Android by including it in their custom UI, but now the feature will be natively available in Android 12.
Scrolling screenshots lets users take long screenshots of web pages and documents that take three or four screenshots to capture completely. So now, you do not need to take multiple screenshots for sharing or saving necessary pieces of information. Here in this article, we will guide you on using this feature on different Android 12 smartphones. We will also include a third-party app method that will let you take scrolling screenshots even if you do not have an Android 12 smartphone. So without any further ado, let’s get into it.
How to Take a Scrolling Screenshot on Android 12?
Currently, we have Android smartphones running on the third beta build of Android 12. For now, we cannot take scrolling screenshots on browsers, but we will be able to do it in the later builds of Android 12, as clarified by Google.
Here, first, we will see how we can take scrolling screenshots on a smartphone running the stock beta build of Android 12. Then we will move to smartphones running a skinned version of Android 12.
Capture Scrolling Screenshots on Android 12:
- The first step is similar to how you would capture a normal screenshot on an Android smartphone. Press and hold the power button and the volume down button, and the screenshot will be captured. Tap on the Capture more option in the bottom corner of your screen to get into the scrolling screenshot interface.
- When you are in the scrolling screenshot UI, you will see the entire page available for capturing. Hold and drag the bottom part of the screenshot region highlighter to adjust the range and area of your scrolling screenshot. To help with the capture, you will also see a zoom-in preview when you drag the selection so that you can stop exactly when you need to.
- Once the selection is made, tap on the Save button in the top part of your screen.
- Now, you will see the edit screen. Here, you can edit the screenshot by cropping the screenshot, adding text to it, highlighting some parts of it, and more. You can also share the screenshot directly from here to anyone you want by tapping on the share option at the top. It will then let you pick the target app and contact for sharing the image.

- Get to the screen where you want to capture the scrolling screenshot and then tap on the Start button.
